For some reason I got it into my head that I wanted to make woven placemats out of fused plastic bags. I had never tried fusing plastic bags before, but I convinced myself that it would be a cheap, easy substitute to these placemats.

Turns out the fusing part was incredibly easy thanks to this handy Esty tutorial. I'll admit I was a little shocked at how many plastic bags I had around. My husband and I try to be really good about using our reusable totes, but when you lay them all out like this you realize how often you forget to bring your own bag.

After I had several sheets of fused bags to my liking I used a cutting mat, acyrlic quilters ruler, and exacto knife to cut 1" strips from the fused material.

I've been in a clothes altering mood lately. Can I shorten this? How would it look with out sleeves? What if I added pin tucks?

When the hem on this skirt from Target started to unravel my first instinct was just to fix it, but then I started thinking what else could I do with it? After staring at it for a while this weekend it finally hit me. Could this skirt become a cool bag? Yes I think it can!

I was started with a pretty basic, heavier weight cotton skirt.

About Me
I'm Maren and I inherited the "project" gene. While this probably isn't a scientific term, I believe it is why I am constantly starting (and usually finishing) new projects. I focus most of my efforts on various crafts, sewing, art, home decor, recycled materials and anything else that peaks my curiosity.
