I finally discovered a second use for all the cheap, polyester graduation gowns in the world.

They always appear in mass quantity at thrift stores around Halloween, but I was never quite sure why? I mean are kids trying to trick or treat as high school and college graduates these days? I suppose the black ones work for a grim reaper or witch outfit, but what about the bright red, blue, and green?

When did my curiosity about graduation gowns begin? Well, a few weeks ago my husband asked for help with a costume for his homecoming assembly. Teachers were asked to participate in the assembly as some type of superhero related to their school subject, which would be music for Jeff.

His plan was to wear his tuxedo and use a baton as his "weapon", so all I needed to find was a cape and mask.

Where to begin?

I had planned on posting a craft show recap, but I've been under the weather and there is just too much going on to spend much time debriefing my experience. So, to sum up...I sold 8 scarves, which was good, but crafts shows can be kind of long and exhausting, which is not that good. Overall, I'm not sure I was meant for the craft show circuit. Here is a photo of my very colorful booth...

Thank you to a few familiar faces who I visited with on Saturday.

I'm not quite sure why I decided to do the Marysville Autumn Craft Show. I've never been inclined to try craft shows as a way to sell my scarves. I've been perfectly happy to sell one here or there.

But, a month ago a woman contacted me through etsy.

I'll admit it. I just can't stop fusing plastic bags. I'm too intrigued with all the possible "things" I might be able create with this thick, wrinkly plastic material. And, since my newspaper arrives nearly every morning wrapped in plastic I end up with an abundance.

My latest experiments have been jewelry, well really bracelets and wrist cuffs, because that's the only jewelry I wear besides my wedding ring.

About Me
I'm Maren and I inherited the "project" gene. While this probably isn't a scientific term, I believe it is why I am constantly starting (and usually finishing) new projects. I focus most of my efforts on various crafts, sewing, art, home decor, recycled materials and anything else that peaks my curiosity.
